About ACT_AS_USER

ACT_AS_USER is a scope This new scope allows that grants the app permission to impersonate a user and access Jira.

Info

Why we added the ACT_AS_USER scope to WBS Gantt-Chart for Jira to access Jira as the user operating the app, rather than as the app itself, through our application server.
This change paves the way for several future improvements that were previously not possible.

One notable improvement that will become possible with ACT_AS_USER is the accurate recording of issue updates. Currently, when an issue is updated through the WBS Gantt-Chart for Jira application server, the update history shows that the app performed the update. With ACT_AS_USER, we will be able to improve the app so that the update history accurately reflects the user who made the update.

While version

Currently, in WBS Gantt-Chart for Jira, when editing and saving fields such as the start date on the Gantt chart screen, the history shows that the app updated the fields, making it unclear who actually made the updates to the issues (see attached image).
By granting the ACT_AS_USER scope, WBS Gantt-Chart for Jira can impersonate the user operating the app when updating issues, thus resolving the above problem.

Furthermore, this scope increases the number of operations that can be performed on the application server side, enabling us to explore different methods for performance improvements.

Manual Update Required

The update to version 1.2.0 will not be performed automatically.
Your Atlassian Cloud site administrator needs to manually approve the update.

Info

What Happens If You Don't Approve the Update

Version 1.2.0 does not yet include such improvements, we are committed to rolling them out progressively in future updatesimplement user impersonation functionality, so you can continue to use WBS Gantt-Chart for Jira without any problems even if you do not approve the update.
However, future releases will gradually add impersonation processing, and if you do not update, errors will occur in the next release, making WBS Gantt-Chart for Jira unusable.
