Exporting to Microsoft Project

You can export projects, versions and issues displayed in WBS Gantt-Chart as XML files that are readable in Microsoft Project by clicking Data Tools MS Project export on the operations bar.

This feature supports exporting hierarchies and dependencies (including lags), as well as several fields.

The correspondence table between the Jira and Microsoft Project field for each Jira field is shown in the table fields is provided below.

Summary

Task name

Assignee

Resource name

  • Makes the assignee's username and

workload
  • units as the output.

  • If the

workload
  • units is 0, Microsoft Project specifies the duration of the task as 0 days as a default. Therefore tasks with no milestones and 0%

workload
  • units are exported with a 1%

workload
  • units.

  • If square brackets are used for the full name of the assignee, convert to parentheses. In Microsoft Project, you cannot use square brackets for resource names.

% done

% complete

Uses the value of the field configured as "% done" in WBS Gantt-Chart for Jira

However, in Microsoft Project, the % completion rate of a summary task is automatically calculated including accumulated  % completion of child tasks as well. Therefore the value shown may differ from % done in WBS Gantt-Chart for Jira.

Limit

The export process will time out if it is not completed within 30 seconds.

Therefore, timeouts may occur when exporting large Gantt-Chart with many issues.
