Here we show you how to set start/end dates on your WBS, and make your plan.

Configuring edit settings

To create a plan, you need to enable automatic updates for the dates of all connected tasks.

  1. ⇒ Select Edit User preferences.
  2. Edit settings:
    1. Check Auto Correct Schedule;
    2. Check Cascade Changes;

      3. Click Update.

Editing plan dates

Next, you are going to plan the tasks.

Tip

Editing the dates of issues without child issues is easy since the plans for parent tasks and successor tasks are adjusted automatically.

When you create a plan, if you disable Baseline in View on the operations bar, the Gantt bar for the plan is enlarged and is easier to check and edit.

When editing the start date and end date on the WBS display, you can enter the dates directly, but we recommend using the following methods.

Enter duration

Enter the number of days required for completing the task(s) for the issue in Duration on the WBS. When you enter the duration, the end date is automatically set to take account of non-working days.

Stretch Gantt bar

You can visually edit the plan using Drag and drop at either end of the Gantt bar.

Tip

If you drag and drop the left-hand end of the bar (Start date), you may end up with an overlap with the preceding issue. You should use the right-hand end instead (End date) for editing purposes.

Saving

Make sure you save your plan when the tasks have been created. Click Save on the operations toolbar.

Next, we show you how to assign resources for each task.
